Want a silent cooling challenge?

They make noise, too.

If Nvidia was smart, they'd package that with two of Arctic Cooling's upcoming VGA Silencer 4 for Nvidia products.

If Gainward, who's already looking to use the ZM80D were smart, they'd do that. I doubt NVidia could care less on the reference cooling as long as it isn't like the leaf-blowing FlowFX.

Looks like at least one company is thinking of external exhaust configurations, albeit with the 6800 non-GT/non-Ultra:

Good news (I think!).

I could easily see myself tossing two 6800U's into a duel PCI-E x16 capable motherboard/machine. As I think about the heat requirements The only option that comes to mind is water cooling. Even with a solution where hot air is expelled from the computer it seems like two 6800u's would tend to heat a computer up fairly fast. Water cooling while not always the most silent solution could be a serious alternative. Even easier these days considering that many of the OEM's are producing 6800u retail cards with water cooling solutions.

Well - cooling (and the deafening roaring aside) ...

... do they sell PSU-sized fusion power plants too? These things eat 100+ W EACH. On top of a beefy CPU (no point in shoving this into a low-end system, right), this is 300W already there.

"OUCH" I think :).

Well atleast you will be able to use your computer case as an oven.

Start up your thanksgiving turkey 12 hours before serving for best moisture content.

And I paid $279 for a Chook cooker (Chicken roaster for the non-Aussies) and I could have modded my computer to do the job and saved space.

That SLI thing is AWESOME!

Noise aside, they could end up attaching more and more and more video cards together! Oh man! On a dual AMD64 board (when they make it) could be the new definition of a powerhouse machine. Wow... Awesome...
