Well, my 7900GT is on its deathbed like so many of the 79XX cards. Seems like the overclocks pushed the card a bit too far after all this time and this chip doesn't seem to be as robust as the previous Nvidia GPUs in terms of tolerances to overlocking. Getting major artefacting in 3D games, odd spots/pixels during POST and it no longer plays DivX, Xvid videos properly (hangs, stutter etc). It's got worse over the last 2 months and the card is only really any use for basic internet browsing / office apps.

Oh well, looks like I'm going to need a new graphics card.

The NV-series @12v are pretty loud. I've had one myself.

You could undervolt them via fanmate or similar. This would bring the fan/wind noise to nearly in audible. But you'll still hear some bearing-rumble, if you listen carefully.
