Zalman's VF900 would be a marked improvement, though not silent. There are a number of aftermarket VGA heatpipe products out there (see for example thermalright.com), but their utility will depend on your case. Many of them are too tall for cases like the NSK2400. If anyone knows of a shorter silent solution, I'd love to hear about it...

The 7600GS is pretty low power, so it should be relatively easy to cool passively. But it's true it's a matter of space and a reasonably airflow.

If you dont got the space and/or airflow, I would also suggest af VF-900. At my personal opinion, there's a lot of bearing noise, but depending on your sensitivity to nois and/or ambient noise...

The third option is to do a fan-swap on the VF-900. It'll take up another PCi slot, but it's realitively simple to do. There's a thread somewhere around here, which shows pics etc.

its about the size of a regular mid tower case, airflow isnt that great, using a 120mm fan @ 800rpm in the front, and 80mm in the rear @ 2k rpm, probably gonna upgrade the rear to a 92mm nexus...anyhow thats it....anything quieter than the zalman ? i guess it would already be alot better than the current whiny fan...

How much room do you have above the PCI mounting brackets? See bicster's setup here for an example of the types of issues I'm talking about. If you have sufficient headroom there appear to be several silent options. From what I understand the Zalman VF900 is the quietest active VGA cooler.

I would go for a passive cooler, if you have room for it. No need for active cooling on a 7600GS. :)

You might be able to use a VF900 passive on it, most 7600GS cards have a pretty small stock heatsink that runs passive. Is it an AGP card?

no, its pci-e, btw I was looking around and just ordered the vf900...newegg had it for just over 30$....stock coler is like 1/4 of the size of this....so lets see...how good is the vf900 ? zalman has a good rep and this will be my first zalman product ever...

Couldn't find any at those places, sorry. I was thinking of the Aerocool VM-102 or perhaps the Be-Quiet Polar Freezer.
Perhaps the VF900 is the best choice.

Why are you limiting yourself to these places? There are numerous other online stores to choose from (just don't buy from Monarch Computers -- trust me on this one... :x)

Instead of listing specific stores, I would just recommend using Froogle to find good prices, and resellerratings.com to find out if the store is any good. If I'd checked resellerratings.com before buying from MonarchComputers, I would never have used them...

The 7600Gt runs about 60-65 watts which makes it a mid-range heat producer. No question the Vf-900 will work great, but for passive you may wish to look into the Aerocase Condor. Although a slight over-kill, we have been selling quite a few of our Condor video coolers to 7600 owners (especially in the reversed Wing config or in overclocking). Plus the bolt pattern is upward compatible to the 7900-7950 series ...

Hope this helps!

According to Xbitlabs, the 7600GT runs just below 36W.

The 7600GS with the lower voltage, usually ~1.1v compared to 1.3v for the 7600GT, runs even cooler than that.

Opps, sorry. I did just get corrected by engineering folks ... make that the Raven for the 7600GT, not the Condor. And you're right ... it's 30-35 watts.
