The HR-03 is an option, but I don't want to spend that kind of money just yet. Any ideas?

I just want to add that I want to upgrade my 7600gt to a 8600gt or gts and wanted to carry over the ZM80D-HP that I'm using now. I just don't know if it will work with it. it keeps the 7600gt very cool without any extra fans.

NO, the zalman won't work with the reference designed 8600 series. I made the mistake selling 7600GT and bought a 8600GT. The Zalman doesn't fit.

Zalman has released its new passive vga cooler. VNF-100. I don't know how it performs but price is not too bad, as its about 25% cheaper than Thermalright HR-03. Much more if you buy right place.
