Single DVI Low Profile VGA Card -> 2 x Monitors?

They make noise, too.

Single DVI Low Profile VGA Card -> 2 x Monitors?

Post by zerok66 » Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:58 am

Hi Guys,

Am I correct in assuming - if I own a Dual Link DVI low profile graphics card with a single DVI-I connector - I can get a DVI splitter cable which will allow me to run 2 x monitors through Windows (as separate displays)?

Thanks,

Not from anything I've ever heard.

Dual link simply means that it supports higher resolutions compared to a single link, due to the additional pins.

You can learn more here.

Regardless, a splitter would just split the signal not drive two separate displays. You would need a second DVI connector to drive a second display.

That is exactly what I thought... I was just thrown by the fact that there are low profile single DVI cards out there that have some form of DVI splitter cable in the box which DOES actually support 2 x separate monitor signals. I guess this must be a proprietary DVI connector/cable.

Thanks

The ones I have seen are actually DS59 connectors that get split into two DVI's.
