They make noise, too.

24" monitor suggestions (not as picky)

Post by Ch0z3n » Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:01 pm

So, I am in the market for a decent 24" monitor, been looking around a bit and am thinking about:

Samsung 245BW
Samsung 2443BW
Samsung 2443BWX
HP W2408h

What is really boils down to is I'd like to find one that after the live.com cashback is under $250, probably on e-bay.

Are there any suggestions or things that I am missing?

16:9 or 16:10 doesn't matter, 16:9 would be cool so I could better clone my TV with it, but that's not a big deal. I will be using the monitor for gaming and normal computer stuff. I don't really do photo editing so I wont cry if the colors aren't exactly perfect. Because I want is cheap, I'm guessing it is gonna be a TN panel.

16:10 is nice for a computer monitor so you can still have your taskbar at the bottom, or a software playback control bar at the top/bottom of the screen without interfering with a 16:9 playback.

So, I have 2 19" widescreens, and a 37" (720p, 1080i) lcd tv, I'm not hurtin for a place to put the taskbar.

Well in the case that your playing a video in a video player, you cant separate the players control bar from the players video output window.

i'm just sayin, its nice to have. slim black bars on the top/bottom of the screen are a lot easier to ignore than having a control bar pop up on top of your video playback.

Well, that's why I said it wouldn't much matter either way. No one has any specific suggestions?

i would say, go on ebay and find the cheapest 24"
all the cheap ones practically have the same stuff anyways
but, it sucks that ebay went down to 20% cashback

and i vote for the 16:10 option
16:10 you have a resolution of 1920*1200
16:9 you have a resolution of 1920*1080
its always better to have more pixels, and you can just have it display two black bars on the top and bottom and end up getting a 16:9 display
