Shorten Accelero S1 Rev. 2 by a half centimeter?

Has anyone ever tried to shorten an Accelero S1 Rev. 2 by a half centimeter?

After removing the plastic pieces and taking measurements, it looks like the Accelero would be a half centimeter too high on my ATI 2600XT HD for my Origen AE X11 HTPC case.

I worry I would damage or destroy the heat pipes if I tried bending them.
