Scythe Musashi : WOW !

Post by mr_plow_king » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:21 pm

I recently bought the Scythe Musashi VGA cooler. I installed it on my 8800 GTS ( G80 ) video card and the only word that comes in mind is WOW.

The original cooler was emitting a slight high pitch sound and it was keeping the GPU temperature at 82-83C while folding.

I'm having trouble hearing the fans at the lower setting a few inches away from the fan and it's still keeping the GPU at 65-66C. Almost 20C improvement for only 35$ at Anitec.

I had only 2 problems :

1- That cooler is VERY long. I had to remove the front HDD cage from my P182 to make it fit.

2- The ramsink glue would not adhere to the RAM chips. That may be a problem caused by the thermal pads on the original cooler because the chips were still very oily to the touch even after cleaning them with alcool. I used a bit of Arctic Silver ceramique to make the ramsinks stick to the chips.

I hope the SPCR guys will test it shortly to hear what they think about it.

I recommend it strongly : http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/vga/0 ... etail.html
