5750 Vapor-X review

Post by karkee » Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:13 am

Short review! :D

I tested the 5750 today its a nice card performance wise for its money if you ask me atleast if you dont wanna blow all the latest games at highest configs.

Now the noise part for me atleast it sux donkey balls its 2 times louder then my 4870 vapor-x at idle. For me atleast it wasnt quiet enough

I found it otherwise.

I had a passive X1900XT before so majorly in need of an upgrade.

I was used to complete silence on the GPU front but found the 5750 Vapor-X to be very quiet.

But perhaps I'm not pushing it hard.

I'm using stock speeds and not gaming as yet... I've pushed it by watching StarTrek at 1080p whilst moving the window around and it didn't break a sweat.

Perhaps I should perform a more structured test!

But for HTPC owners, I would say this is a worthwhile purchase.

Sure the noise aint THAT bad but it isnt something I would use myself atleast.. especially at night it goes above anything I have in my PC.

I just got this card for a new build. The noise isn't bad, not that great either. The fan running at 40% (default) is more or less equivalent to an stock fan running at medium (slightly louder than a nexus at full speed) or a 7200 hard drive. Noticeable but not terrible. That said, it's the loudest component in my system and the fan & heatsink will soon be replaced.

I really think you should consider slowing its fan down first: the vapor chamber cooler is so efficient it will surely keep up with the heat even with a slower spinning fan. The 5750 is made to be quite cheap, so by spending the money of an aftermarket heatsink you may have entered the realm of 5770's total price, and that would not be a good deal anymore...
