I recently upgraded from a 9600GT which I silenced with a Thermalright HR-03something to a Gigabyte GV-N450-1GI GTS450 based card (http://gigabyte.com/products/product-pa ... id=3592#ov).
Of course, the new fan drives me crazy
Unfortunately i checked both the Thermalright and Arctic Cooling sites and all their new coolers are listed as compatible only with nvidia card from 460 upwards.
Anyone can recommend other solutions, or knows if the 460 compatible models would work on a 450?
Thanks.

The Accelero S1 should be able to fit it alright, and it will clear the rear of the case. Compare these images:
* Newegg page for the GV-N450-1GI: see the 4th image
* GPU location on my old HD4670, slightly closer to the display connectors than on the GV-N450-1GI
* an Accelero S1 on this HD4670 only juts out a little
* Another angle
The power consumption of the GTS450 is very similar to the HD5770, which I've since moved the S1 onto. It handles the heat from the 5770 just fine, needing only a little bit of airflow to stay cool. The highest GPU temp I've reached is 84c, while running Furmark on a warm day and with all fans @ 5v (500~600RPM).

EDIT: Should really add, my card usually tops out in the low 60's when playing normal games.

Re: Third party passive cooling for GTS450?
I thought the holes on the GTS450 were compatible with the HR-03...
I will look into it.
EDIT : According to NVidia's reference design, 9600GT and GTS450 have the same mounting holes

EDIT 2 : flemeister beat me to it ! same link.

Re: Third party passive cooling for GTS450?
Thank you! Thank you! That table of video card mounting holes is pure gold.
I didn't try the HR-03 that i already have because i'm still using the old 9600 in another PC.
Now to decide if i order another HR-03 or get an Accelero... although on a quick glance the HR-03 doesn't seem to be in stock any more where I am.
Also, when i mounted it on my 9600GT the ram heatsinks kept falling off and i had to order a separate pack with a better adhesive so Accelero it is this time

Re: Third party passive cooling for GTS450?
To close the case, so to speak:
I ended up ordering an Arctic Cooling TwinTurbo pro - instead of the passive S2. Fits allright (had to fit a VRM heatsink diagonally across 3 chips), noise is gone (fans at 7v using the included adapter) - or to be more exact, now i hear the cpu cooler or the power supply, not sure which yet. Temps in Furmark went down almost 20 degrees.
What's worth mentioning is when i removed the original GPU cooler from Gigabyte i noticed it has only 2 wires, not 3 or 4 - this means it was running at max speed all the time right?

Re: Third party passive cooling for GTS450?
Just a comment here, I have the EVGA GTS450, and the stock heatsink/fan + bios control is so good that the fan never speeds up to the point where I can hear it, and temps are decent in my P182.
Considering that my GTS250 died with the S1rev2 on it, I'm feeling a wee bit sceptical about going all passive on yet another card... Especially when I dont really need to.
