Radical Sony VAIO RA-104
Not sure if I should be posting this in ‘Prebuilt’, but at the risk of it going unnoticed there, I’ve posted it here:
Sony UK page
Features:
CPU heat is conducted to the radiator by a phase-change heatpipe system.
Heatpipe radiator, cooled by a 120mm fan, is located where the PSU normally sits.
Central air slot in case sides allows cool air to be drawn over radiator.
120mm PSU located sideways, and near bottom of case - extracing warm air from Northbridge and PCI slots.
Hard drive cage has fan sitting on top – presumably drawing air from vents in the bottom of case.
There’s a review in PC-Pro Mag (UK). I’ve not time enough to post further info - perhaps tomorrow. Certainly a very interesting concept!

According to http://www.vaio.net/models/desktops/r/tour.html, the price tag does exclude the monitor.
So: very serious money for real power, exotic looks and exotic cooling... Sony's answer to the Power Mac G5, isn't it?

i would think that it's more of an answer to HUSH ATX and zalman TNN 500A. the price is in the same range. does anyone have a first-hand experience with the sony box? how does it stack against HUSH and zalman?Sam Williams wrote: So: very serious money for real power, exotic looks and exotic cooling...
