Water Cooling

Post by CosmosCR » Wed Dec 20, 2006 6:22 am

I figure the only way to keep an 8800GTX quiet is to use water cooling right?

So is there any specific pump, and radiator that is especially quiet? Is there a kit I can buy somewhere? (ive never done this before)

You're probably better off asking this in the Watercooling forum.

Thermochill PA160 & Nexus 120mm fan at 7v.
2x 3/8" BSP thread to 3/8" Hosebarb fittings for radiator.
Laing DDC (10w model) Pump mounted on gelpad.
NV88 GPU Block from DangerDen, with 3/8" fittings.
T-piece and Fillport.
4ft of 3/8" ID Tubing at the most.

Should be as silent as it gets, and still have enough headroom to allow you to watercool the CPU should you desire using a Swiftech Apogee CPU Block with 3/8" fittings.

Marci - why did you suggest the T-line and fill port? A reservoir is easier from what I've read.

Neither is any easier than the other really. Fillport and T-Piece consumes less space and has a smaller impact on performance vs pressure drop inflicted by a reservoir. Plus the guy wants silence... may as well eliminate any splashing / trickling noises of water in a reservoir by using T-Piece and fillport.

End of the day, it's personal preference when it comes to res or T line. I prefer T line.

Can't say which I prefer, as I've never had a watercooling system. Most of what I've read says that a res makes the ssytem easier to fill.

how about a Swiftech MCRES-MICRO with a fillport going into the G3/8 plug at the top? Bleed time of a res, accessibility of a fillport.
