how do you turn on only PSU fan or case fan?

i got 10 yate loon fans
i should choose quiet fans among 10 fans
i intended to hear 10 fans noise respectively by switching on them through hdd power adapter used in usb-ide adapter

but the fan didn't work out

what's wrong with'em?

You could get a standard regulated power supply for anything that's rated for DC up to the maximum voltage of the fans. Thay wont draw much current, so even a small wall-wart should be OK. Regulated means the output voltage should be constant, so it wont vary and fool you into mis-choosing a particular fan if you test it when there's a slight brownout, or the washing machine (etc0 kicks in).

USB only provides +5V - many 12V fans will not start at that level.

I made it by connecting it to 1394 external hdd power adapter
