Quiet E6600 fan please ?

Post by swayzak » Fri Jan 19, 2007 5:38 am

hi

Enjoying my new C2D P180B-based system :D

However, I've noticed that the main noise source is (unsurprisingly) the stock Intel fan.

The 180 cases fans are pretty quiet.

Can anyone recommend a really quiet fan to replace the stock one ?

(preferably a reasonable price)

thanks

The ThermalRight SI-128 is a passive cooling heatsink, but you'll need a 120MM casefan to keep it cool enough. The main advantage is that you can choose out of any casefan you want as long as it is 120MM.
I would choose a Nexus 120MM casefan.

Edit: oh, and it costs about 40 dollars..

I have an Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 @ 1000RPM (using Speedfan so it's silent) and I'm a happy camper. My 6600 runs @ 3Ghz with temps somewhere between 35 and 50 degrees celcius. If you look at the recommended list of heatsinks there're better solutions (and more silent), but for the price you can't beat the Freezer Pro.

A Thermalright HR-01 might be just what you're looking for: it comes with a duct that goes to the back case fan, so it doesn't need a fan of its own.
