replacement cooler for fan on Asus A7V133 Northbridge?

Post by regoldman » Mon Aug 29, 2005 6:42 am

Greetings -
I've got an Asus A7V133 with a 1 GHz Athlon.
There's a whiny fan on the mobo's Northbridge chip.
A picture can be found here:

One cooler that I've seen referred to from an earlier forum thread (http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewto ... 916#125916)
is the ZM-NB47j.

Does anyone have any other recommendations/suggestions?

Thanks kindly.

Oh yeah -

If anyone has any additional suggestions for a quiet ATX PSU (300w or so), I'm all ears [which is probably why I want to quiet the beast ;7)].

Thanks again,
- rg

The Zalman NB47J is widely used by SPCR members. It's cheap and available from many sources.

Have you looked at the SPCR article for recommended PSUs?

Many including me like the Seasonic S12 series.

Since you're using a motherboard that may expect/prefer an ATX v1.3 PSU, I'd actually recommend anything from the Seasonic Super Silencer series, which was designed more for Athlon XP processors in mind.

Folks -

Thanks for the advice.

I opted for the Zalman ZM-NB32J (I liked the idea of less weight) and the Super Silencer 300w, on the theory that it was older, like my mobo, cheaper, and more than the 250w in there already.

I also picked up a Nexus AXP-3200 for the CPU and a replacement Nexus 80mm fan.

Hopefully that'll quiet things down -- I'll let y'all know.
