P180 and Nexus NX4090 PSU

Post by Blob » Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:52 pm

The Nexus PSU has a fan situated beneath it. And the PSU placement in the P180 is at the bottom of the case. So the air flow from the PSU blows downwards against the bottom of the case. I don't understand how this improves air flow and thus cooling.

Can someone please explain?

Easy: the bottom fan in 120mm PSU's sucks in air with the bottom fan and blows it out of the back of the power supply.

teejay is correct.
The PSU has a good 1"+ gap both above and below the PSU. There's plenty of room for air to come into the PSU's bottom fan.

Also, there are rear intake holes, but, like the P180''s review shows, you can boost hard drive cooling by closing the holes, and the PSU fan will make a hard drive cooling draft. That's what I do.
