Case + PSU recommendations!

Post by Ayah » Tue Jul 18, 2006 4:53 pm

So I'm planning to relocate my server into a case with better airflow that's decently quiet.(last case was a thermaltake xavier 3 which had shitty airflow and the server shut down every 3 days)

At first I was thinking of using an Antec P180 and FSP460-60PFN which I would modify with a panaflo (haven't decided which one yet)
Parts list:

Dual 1.6LV Xeons @ 3.2GHz - 1.6v
Passive 3U Coolermaster heatsinks with heatpipes
Asus PC-DL (Normal ATX)
2GB of DDR400 or 2GB of DDR333 ECC
WD 80GB IDE OS drive (7200rpm)
4 X WD 200GB drives on a promise raid controller @ 0+1 (7200rpm)
ATI 9600 dual DVI w/ Zalman ZM80D-HP Passive heatsink

Would be nice if I could get the parts in Canada for 350$ or less.

An Antec P180 Looks like it would be suitable. It has the necessary space for those hard drives and has the ability to cool them adequately.

The PSU that's recomended most on this site at the moment are the Seasonic S12 series coming in 330W, 430W, 500W and 600W. For your system I'd probably get the 500W (as you've got a lot of hard drives) which would allow headroom to upgrade in the future as well as providing stability for your current system.

Hope that helps

Daniel
