will ecc buffered memory run in standard ddr memory slots?

quick question, why bother? You don't get much benefit on running them as far as I recall. Just less money to spend on something else

because i can get a special deal on them (at bellow the cost of unregesteread ecc buffered ram...) but my mobo doesn;t require it...

I don't know what motherboard you're planning to put these ECC modules in, but make sure you check your motherboard's documentation to see if such modules are compatible with your board.

I once bought a stick of ECC buffered SDRAM on ebay for cheap (looking back, I can guess why it was cheap...). It didn't work in a standard desktop KT-133 based motherboard I tried it in. Definitely consult the manual.
