Corsair value select. 533 or 667 for conroe?

Post by ceselb » Sun Jul 30, 2006 6:24 am

Planning on getting 4 x 1Gb modules for my P5W DH Deluxe + E6600.
Can't find any comparisons on low end memory though. My thought is that 533Mhz/PC4200 should be enough, since 667Mhz/PC5300 is asynchronous to the bus and would only benefit from the added speed in every third acess cycle.

All the benchmarks and info I find are for higher memory speeds. It seems that the review sites have abandoned the non-OC crowd to a large degree.
Searching on the larger forums are also no help.

Hello,
My thought is that 533Mhz/PC4200 should be enough, since 667Mhz/PC5300 is asynchronous to the bus and would only benefit from the added speed in every third acess cycle.
This is a point, and the difference is probably minor, but since the prices are almost identical I see no reason to buy PC4200 RAM.

Prices @ newegg
PC4200 - 1GB 80USD
PC5300 - 1GB 81USD
