AMD 4600+ X2 and 5400+ X2 more expensive than 6000+

Post by SlaveToSilence » Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:56 am

i found on a certain well known internet retailer that the 4600 and 5400's are more expensive than the 6000! is there some hidden reason behind this? like them being sought after models that overclock better than the rest? (like the old 2800) or is it something silly like them being higher because they are low stocked or the 6000 price was lowered and the 4600 and 5400 stayed the same?

i've been out of the loop for a while, is there something i missed? i just ordered a 6000+ and am hoping i haven’t made a bad decision? :s

Supply a demand usually adjust prices. I cannot find another reason for it, while not even knowing this well known retailer's name.

No hidden reason. What you said is the reason.

Probably the others are better performers at overclocking. Something tells me I read that the 6000+ was a "stressed" part, in that they had to do special binning, upping voltage, etc.. to get it to 3.0 GHz, and that it uses 125+ watts.

Me, I want a 65W AM2 6000+ before they discontinue the socket!
