advice on my build

Post by sssp » Mon Nov 26, 2007 11:00 am

I found this website not too long ago and been looking around for advice on a silent PC. Here is what I am thinking.

ABIT IP35 Pro
Quad Q6600 & Thermalright Ultra 120
8800 GT (have not decided on a exact model) & Thermalright HR-03
Antec P182
A-Data 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2-800 PC2-6400
Corsair HX620

Will the cooling for the CPU and graphics card coolers be a problem with the motherboard? Will it all fit?
This will mainly be used for gaming

Thanks

The IP35-Pro is listed as compatible on Thermalright's Ultra120eX mobo page.

Also, unless you want to run dual graphics cards with your PSU, 620W is overkill. The 520W model will work just fine.

Should be fine.

Hope you're using a 64 bit operating system, otherwise you won't see all of your system memory. Stop at 3GB [2x1gb, 2x512] if you want to use a 32bit OS.

I didnt see you list a fan for your HSF. The Ultra 120 is great, but what fan will you use? Check out the recommended section for a 120mm fan round up. I can personally vouch for Scythe's S-FLEX, Got the 1200rpm models, and they're cooling my Prescott OC'd to 3.8 while @ 700rpm... very quiet fans!

I will be running a 64 bit operating system. I'm a student so it will only cost me about $15.

I forgot about the fans, Ill be sure to check out the recommended fan section.

Thanks for the help everyone.

the 8800GT is silent at 40%speed on the stock fan. You might want to leave it on.If not buy a EVGA since they will still cover its warranty even if you remove the stock cooler
