P182 Cooling / Silencing ?'s

Post by Shizdan » Thu Dec 27, 2007 9:01 pm

I Already own a P180, But im thinking of getting a P182 and Modding it Into a silent, yet Great airflow case. But i Have a Few Questions
Case-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129025
Replacing Stock Fans With these-Scythe SY1225SL12M 120mm Fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835185058

QUESTIONS
1 - Anyone Ever Use those fans?....I need quiet fans yet they must move alot of air for great airflow.
2 - Should i get Air Filters?
3 - The P182 already has Dampening material, IF i added some more dampenign material (Like foam etc) Would it drop the Noise coming from my computer?
4 - Would the Dampenign Material Raise Temps?
5 - Recomended me Some Great Dampening material that is on the Cheaper side

I wouldn't bother with dampening material in my experience it's rubbish.

Air filters are good if you live somewhere where there's a lot of dust, but it causes more resistance and thus more noise. Personally I wouldn't bother. I have 6 air filters in mine and i still have to clean it out every 3 months.

With regards to the fans - Sharkoon Silent Eagles are supposedly the very best in silence and airflow. I've got some on order which should be arriving on Wednesday so I can't tell you my opinion till then.

Dampening materials are only going to block out the high frequency sounds (closed cell foam) or vibrations (dynamat extreme) - I doubt you have problems with either of those in your P182. With an aluminum case though they are great..
