looking for a 6-bay mini tower case

Post by hatbrox » Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:49 pm

Hi there,

I've been looking for a 4 months for a case that can fit my cabinet.
I'm looking for a case that has 6 5.1/4" bays and can take mini ITX board, not ATX.
my cabinet has room for a case of (H/D/L) of 35x42x36cm or 13x16.5x14 inches.

It seems that no manufacturers even bother to build a 6-bay case.

I found a few 9-bay chassis like the Lian Li's PC-A17B, which I like a lot but it's too big.

I just want 2-3 bays less, but I don't want the crap that you normally see between the 5.1/4 and 3.5 bays for power button and leds.
just a clean front with 6 bays.

I need this to build a storage server with WHS. I would put 2 4-in-3 drive cages to put 8 disks.

I checked all big brands and a few others but failed to find such a case.

the dream case would be the the QNAP TS-809 Pro but the price is insane!

can anyone help?

cheers

6-bay mini tower case

Post by The_Helper » Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:02 am

Hi, I'm in a similar situation (looking for a tiny tower case fitting just a bunch of drives and an Atom board) for my WHS project. The closest thing I could find is a Rosewill box on Newegg.com.

It seems to be very reasonably priced (ok for an empty box basically), unfortunately they don't ship to Australia and I haven't found a reseller here yet.
If anyone could post a place in AU where I can get such a tiny tower, I'd be very happy.

that won't work, the front panel won't let me put a HDD cage.
why didn't they put 5.25 bays all the way down!

I've been looking for something very similar and it seems you won't find what you're after unless you start modding.

moding?

I read of moding for gamer chassis, where you put funny blue light everywhere!

do you think I could buy a case like this one:

and try to put 3x5.25 drive cage on the bottom?
