silencing a scissor key keyboard

Post by galerian » Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:25 am

i'm in the process of making the keys quieter on my kensington ci73 laptop style keyboard. i've been using a small ball of elmer's tack under each key where it meets the rubber dome. i have about half the keys done and it sounds quieter.

the longer keys like the spacebar were harder to quiet, though my spacebar is now pretty quiet provided the thumb never leaves it while typing. however, i'm still not quite satisfied and know there's room for improvement.

has anyone tried silencing their keyboard and succeeded in making it quieter? can you share your experiences?
