Hi, I just bought a system thanks especially to this forum and some surfing. I am so happy with my aquisition that I thaugh I would make a review.
I have developped tinnitus with my 2007 laptop Toshiba tecra S2. The fan and cpu noise where always high pitching and hitting my ear, so it caused damage.
This is why i was looking for the most silent computer, while being the most cheap, the most performant and comfortable to work with. Not an easy task!
I bought:
1. Asus Eee PC S101
2. A Seagate Agent Go 300Gig portable HDD (Thanks to psyopper from the message at "college laptop but quiet" thread in this section )
3. A fully portable USB slim Samsung DVD burner SE-S084B (not needing a power supply)
4. An LCD monitor
5. USB Mouse and keyboard
6. A 7 port usb hub
The result: Now I have a full comfortable DEAD QUIET home computer work station that is even more performant than my huge Toshiba at less than 1200$ ! Plus, it is fully portable for my courses in classrooms. Needless to say, my ears are so happy!
I highly recommend such a system and think it is the best way to go!!
If anyone have question about the S101, please ask I will be happy to help you out.
