AU8-V

Post by kamosoft » Tue Dec 13, 2005 3:48 am

Hi all :D
Will you help me wich mb s754 to buy, please!
1. I was thinking of Asus K8U-X but the manual does not say whether the cpu V. can be set to 0.8v. Does anyone have K8U-X mb? Can you recommend me mb with ULI chipset and BIOS undervolt.
2. Is there a program that can set the cpu boot up voltage, even if the bios does not have such option?
3. And the last one :) Can I undervolt Sempron 64 below 1.1V, or I have to buy Athlon64 (with a risk to be 0.13m)

Thanks!
I have Athlon64 2800+ and is working great at 0.8V :)
Now I want to build a new system so I still wonder which CPU and mb to choose ...

Well, 90 nm A64 have showed up now, but I guess you've already seen it.
But as long as you're not looking for the 2.4 GHz model I'd say Sempron 64 will do just fine.

My suggestion is that you first consider S939, that would make it possible to buy a dual core in the future. Now the motherboards cost almost like the S754 does, but the CPU's are a bit more expensive. If you want to keep it low cost then I think you should wait for S939 Semprons, they will probably show up soon. I think Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 is a good motherboard, it got a ULI chipset that supports both AGP and PCIE graphics cards. Quite common, good overclocker and really low price too.
