My new super cool 754 mb :))

Post by kamosoft » Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:12 am

I have upgraded to DFI LanParty NF3 250gb.
I can turn off and control all the fans from bios and undervolt even sempron 2500+ to 0.8V. This is the most customisable board I ever had :)
The only disadvantage I see is the lack of lower voltage for the chipset (abit nf7 has one)
Now my computer (Athlon 64 2800+) boot at default freq and volt.
When windows starts rm clock set the CPU 4x200 @ 0.8V, but if power is needed the cpu goes at 9x200 @ 1.4. So I have power when I need and the cpu fan is always off (because I have set the fan to stay off when the temp. is under 50C).

NF3 is of course not the ultimate choice but I was unable to find any other s754 mb with such features ...

The Biostar Tforce 6100 also allows undervolting of the CPU (and chipset too, not 100% sure about this though).

I will take a look now.

And the most important is to be able to turn off the cpu fan and control the chasing fan, of course I am open to upgrades anytime :))

I've been thinking of getting that board too. Have you tried any overclocking on it? My system runs very cool with minimal airflow, so I want to try my hand at overclocking. See how much faster I can get without increasing noise.

Excellent board, I used one with my old Turion64. :)

And nForce3 really isn't as bad heat-wise as some make it out to be. Was able to cool the chipset fine with a CoolerMaster passive heatsink (similar in size to the Zalman NB32J). It ran warm but not warm enough to cause any problems.

No, the Tforce 6100 has no chipset voltage settings. Also I can't get CPU voltage down to 0.800V in the BIOS just 0.88V (0.900V setting).

Does the DFI let you save and load sets of BIOS settings? How high can the CPU HT link go reliably on the DFI? My Tforce 6100 seems to get flaky at about 360MHz or so.

AFAIK the Tforce has only one fan header that can change the voltage, the other ones are fixed at 12V.

Yes, though there's been a few BIOS updates since I last tried controlling one of the other three fan headers.

I didn't try to overclock, also I have DDR 333
The chipset really can be cooled without fan

Didnt found bios sets  bios with profiles
