ASUS P5B deluxe - extra power socket

Post by cadman342001 » Mon Nov 27, 2006 4:49 am

Hi chaps,

currently putting my new build together and have a quick Q for you.

The extra power socket on the mobo, in the top left corner, it has 8 pins but has a little removable cover over 4 of the pins.

I have 3 or 4 connectors coming off the enermax galaxy PSU - an 8 pin one labelled "CPU only", one labelled "12V CPu" etc.

The book mentions quad core processors using the 8 pins but also says some single processors may require it etc. etc.

I am using an Intel E6600 core 2 duo CPU - what connector do I use ?

If I used the 8 pin one would it do it any harm ?

I'm not powering it up until I sort this out !

Thanks guys,

Andy

Use the 8 pin connector.
