Bad Axe 2 mosfets need airflow across them?

Post by category_five » Sun Apr 22, 2007 1:38 am

I'm currently considering purchasing a Bad Axe 2 motherboard (BLKD975XBX2KR) for a low power, low noise, gaming rig, but I'm concerned about the mosfets around the processor.

The manual for the Bad Axe 2 lists the mosfets as a high temperature zone, and suggests an omni-directional active heatsink to cool the passive heatsinks of the mosfets. My already purchased Scythe Infinity, (SCINF-1000 RT), which I am very partial to, doesn't appear to have any omni-directional capabilities. I was contemplating adding an upper rear case exhaust fan which might help a little bit with cooling the mosfets. I don't expect them to get especially hot running only a Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe. Any input would be very much appreciated.

The business edition of the Bad Axe 1 & 2 (which is almost impossible to get hold of in the UK, which is a pity) does not have heatsinks on mosfets. Suggests to me that they do not get too hot.
