e8400 available early, at microcenter for $190

Post by Conroy » Sat Jan 19, 2008 8:20 am

Apparently they've been in stock and sold out at several online places already, but tankguys and zipzoomfly have them now for around $220. newegg doesn't have them yet.

I just got back from the NY Microcenter with my e8400, $190. They don't have it listed on their website and the box is labeled $239.99, but they had at least 20 left when I was there.. I believe all microcenter stores should have them too.

I can't believe i now have my cpu while my video card and ram are arriving next week
who would have thought that a local store would break the ship date and be cheaper than online...

Yeah I just installed my new e8400 as well that I got from microcenter. I can't believe how cool these things run, mine is idling at 27 and loading at like 38 and it uses almost no power. Amd is in real trouble they have nothing that even comes close to these new intel cpu's

Lol. Right after I wrote my post I checked the net, found a microcenter 70 miles away, called, reserved on, and drove down and got it. SO yeah... I've got it.

(don't know if I need to cover the stuff up, or what. LOL)

Edit.. got the motherboard installed, swapping out your motherboard and CPU can be a lot of work!

If that's the price of the 8400's, what's the price of the 8200?

I didn't ask, but I didn't see any e8200's in the case.
I did ask about e8500 and they said they did not have any of those yet.

Intel's wholesale price (1000 pieces) shows only a $20 difference between e8200 and e8400

Yea, I saw that, I'd only buy the cheapest, that $20 difference is another $20 towards a new motherboard.

I thought the dollar was all weak? The pricing on that site confuses me, lol.
