DVI+HDMI output required

Post by jacky912 » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:45 pm

Sorry for the stupid question, hope someone can answer it...

Is it possible to use 780 or 790 IGP output to my monitor by DVI.
At the same time, use ATI 4550 output to Plasma TV by HDMI?

And can it have something like cross-fire function, so that I can play high graph quality game?

What do you mean, at the same time? I'm not sure what you mean, but it sounds unlikely.

The 780G/790 chipsets only output to one digital display at once. Most will also have a VGA output that will work simultaneously with the digital display. Adding in a separate video card (like the HD 4550) will allow you to output to two different displays, but not as crossfire (IIANM). Some cards/chipset support Hybrid Crossfire but it's limited in the chipsets supported and the GPUs that will work with it. You won't be able to pair a super-highend GPU with integrated graphics, it has to be comparable in power.

if you want to use both displays, could be a bit tricky.

but what you want is just output your games to plasma through HD 4550, that could be done pretty easily. just connect the monitor, setup multiple displays in drivers and try it.

might take a bit of tweaking but not impossible.

Thanks for all the valuable reply.
I am surprise that the IGP can't work with 4550 for Hybrid Crossfire.
That's what I want to know.
A thousand thanks.

I've not seen any IGPs with seperate DVI and HDMI channels. Due to similarities between the two signal types, I suppose the outputs are physically connected to the same part of the chip.

If anyone finds a board that supports the two at the same time, I'd love to hear about it. Even cloning could work well.
