Undervolting Athlon 620?
Hi, i am am total newbie in undervolting, so please have patience with me.
My situation is this:
I would like to get an Athlon II x4 605e, but right now it's quite pricey. The price seems even more weird, compared to the 620. It's almost 50 euros more expensive.
I DO want to get as low power consumption as possible. I use 790Gx chipset (using the onboard graphics) and 5050e right now and i would be glad to keep the power as close to that as possible.
- Does the 620 undervolt easily (with good success rates)?
- I have found this topic that sounds promicing:

My question is: My BIOS, if you set a voltage manually, disables Cool N Quiet. Isn't that a problem? I mean, how do you idle the CPU then? Or it doesn't matter if Cool N Quiet is on or not?
I would be greatful for any advice.

CnQ won't work with manual voltage settings(at least on K10). Well, it's not a big matter though
You can overide this problem with custom P-state software (ex:RMClock,PhenomMSRTweaker)
*using X4 620 w/ PhenomMSRTweaker.Currently run 1.1625v@full-load & 0.9750v@idle

That depends on the motherboard. Some of them keep C'n'Q active when undervolting. Some even lower the idle voltage accordingly. My Jetway NC62K-LF is such an example. I run my 240 at 1.125 V and idle voltage goes down to 0.800 V.1kbyte wrote:CnQ won't work if the manual voltage settings(at least on K10). Well, it's not a big matter though
yeah depends on the board... mine ran cool and quiet fine undervolted.florinp3 wrote:That depends on the motherboard. Some of them keep C'n'Q active when undervolting. I got my 620 down to 1.125V full load and 0.925V idle, on Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready. Maybe could have gone lower in idle, but this board doesn't have split voltage for CPU and NB and 0.925V is probably the low limit for the NB.
Of course, C'n'Q enabled in the BIOS, and P-states' voltages modified using K10stat on Windows startup.
