NorthQ - NQ4775-500S Ultra Silent PSU 500Watt

Post by jcjuul » Tue Oct 10, 2006 11:51 am

I've been waiting for my S12-430 for a long time, and it seems there are no vendors in Denmark who can get any for a long time still. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have a complete new pc excluding PSU standing waiting for me 8)

So, the above mentioned PSU was recommended by the vendor. I know I do not need 500W, but with 140mm fan by Yate Loon, Active PFC and a claim of 12-17 db it seems at least worth considering. However it's energy efficiency is not extraordinary.

Does anybody have opinions or advice?

www.komplett.se has the S12-380 in stock, that will handle your setup with lots of power to spare.

SHG.biz has some S12-500 in stock. They are a bit slow on deliverence but otherwise a great company to my experience

My NorthQ was dead silent at arrival but got noisy rather quick (max 6 months) but it was a cheaper 400W model (forgot the model-name). Did send them a email and asking about it but didn't get a reply. Might be just my sample tho

It's not a Seasonic but it's probibly an ok budget choice.
I assume you read the review:

The S12-380 is actually cheaper than the NQ-4775 500S at that shop, so the Seasonic is the budget choice. :)

Totally unfair that the S12-380 is in stock in Sweden (in Denmark it is currently out of stock everywhere). The Swedish price is much higher than in Denmark and with shipping the total cost approaches what I'd pay for the S12-500 in Denmark.

I've decided to go for the 500. My brother is considering building the ultimate gaming rig with true SLI and what else, so maybe I can pass the 500 onto him and replace mine with the 430 which more than enough covers my needs (or maybe even the 380). We'll see. Most importantly, the 500 is in stock!

I consider the Seasonic S-series to be superior to NorthQ 4775-500S (a.k.a. LC-Power Silent Giant, manufactured by Shenzhen Chi Yuan). If you can understand swedish, this review I've written may explain why.
