LC Power LC6550 PSU experienes?

Post by Niklas » Fri Mar 23, 2007 3:50 pm

Hi
So I managed to destroy my "NeoHE 550" when swaping the fan. visited the repair guy who told me it was not possible to repair my "old" (had it for two months) PSU.
So he had got me a new one. I was sceptic since I had never heard of LC Power, but I managed to get him to accept to buy it back if I was not satisifded. It did say "Silent Giant" on the box and it has a 14 cm fan so...
Whe searching on the forum I find nothing on this PSU so I thougt I'd ask if anyone has any expericene. Will try it out during the weekend.

No real-life experience, but I've read something about LC Power: they are budget units, and IIRC the specs are doctored up, like the 550W would be probably rated 400W or less by another manufacturer...

An LC Power 550W costs slightly less than a Seasonic S12-330 and one third less than a 350W Enermax, hope you didn't pay too much for it.

PS: I think you should find a review here but it doesn't load up ATM, at least here.

The PSU works quite silently since I installed it yesterday. When getting hotter though, it starts to sound like my vacuum cleaner.
Since I payed 30% more than mail order I´l return it and pick a new Neo HE 550 and put a 12 cm Nexus in the flow port to cool it instead of the installed 80 mm ADDA.

I really hope you didn't pay too much for it. I've found a review of it: http://www.planet3dnow.de/artikel/hardw ... ro/9.shtml

Eevn though I don't know german, the pictures speak more than thousand words. Unable to cope with full load, poor overall efficiency and by looking at the innards, it really doesn't look like a quality PSU.
