Nexus 3000 or modded zalman

Post by jackal2513 » Mon Sep 01, 2003 3:52 pm

hiya,

im based in the uk and am windering which will be the quietest. The nexus has a gret review but will the 300W be enough for my system which is an overclocked 3.06 with x2 hard drives and a Geforce4. Is it true that the combined rating for the nexus is 200w ?

Alternatively i could go with the 400w zalman and change the fan in it. I read that to mod the fan to a quiet lower voltage one it was best to get a psu with a large heatsink which the zalman has.

also available in the uk is the seasonic 400w but it didnt seem as quite as the nexus in teh reviews and also the dual papst fanned prosilence 420w but its expensive and i am wary of prosilence build quality ... also it has x2 fans.

any help much appreciated

cheers

Rich

Take a look at MikeC's review of the brand-new Seasonic Super Tornado. Seems like you might want to add this one to the top of your list.

I have a Nexus and a modded Enermax. The Enermax is much quieter.

both the nexus and zalman are modified fortrons so if you want to go the modding route i'd get a fortron FSP400-60PFN, otherwise get the seasonic super silencer or super tornado if they're available.
