phantom 500 in p180 - cable length

Post by kamina » Thu Dec 01, 2005 5:29 am

The motherboard I would be using the combo for has the 20-pin connector at the top. Will the cable still be long enough?

edit:

The main reason I'm wondering, is that it looks on paper like it would be about the same length as the s12, but everyone is complaining about the s12, and nobody about the phantom.

I have the A8N-SLI Premium, P180, and Phantom 350. The A8N-SLI's P4 connector is in pretty much the same place as your ATX connector and the cable from my phantom just reaches. The big problem I have is the CPU socket is right under the connector (where yours is quite a ways off to the left, that top one anyway), and my XP-120 really makes it hard to route the cable. Also my video card in the top PCI-E slot is a bit tough to get the wire over also.

I guess the short answer is it will work so long as you don't have too much stuff in the way (like tall expansion cards).

This picture sums it up reasonably well:
