HX520 - mine is stupidly loud.

Post by TheRove » Mon Jan 08, 2007 10:29 am

When I unpacked the PSU it was love at first sight. Now the love is gone. It won't stop whining. A constant high pitched coil whine. I've had a few moments where it was very quiet, and my new computer was practically inaudible even though it's positioned less than 50cm from me right now.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot the problem? I've stopped the fan with a pencil for a second and it continued. It's definitely some of the PSU internals just buzzing like crazy.

Help me out please. :(

Send it back (RMA) they should be dead silent upto a load of 300W. For some support on Corsair's hardware look here :

For PSU's :

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply, already posted on Corsair's board but I appreciate the help.

I'll be requesting an RMA tomorrow. It's honestly REALLY loud, I feel like it could burst into flames at any moment. I'm not comfortable using this computer until the PSU is replaced.

Do you think there might be a risk the PSU will damage my hardware?
