PSU is probably dying

Post by jordi.c » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:54 pm

Hi there,

My 3 year old Nexus NX-4000 (400Watt) is probably on his last days.

I have random freezes and reboot problems. Now I have removed the VGA card it runs more stable. So I wanna look for a new PSU.

I don't know what wattage range I should look for.
I'm looking for the best quality and low noise I can get.

I was thinking about the Zalman 600Watt (heatpipe) I also saw the Corsair HX520W gets a good review over here. Can anyone tell me which they prefer?

I don't know if this is too much power and if this is the quite available these days.

System Specs:
Intel P4 3,2Ghz
2x1GB RAM 1x512MB RAM
Intel D865GBF Motherboard
ATI X850XT PE (AGP)
4x500GB 7200rpm Hitachi SATAII

3x80mm casefans

PCI Cards:
2xport SATA Card
USB card
Intel NIC card
Soundcard

peripheral:
Printer/Scanner

I'm looking forward to your advice.

Hello,

You'll be fine with a 300watt PSU -- of the two you mentioned, the HX520 is better. Check the recommended list! (I also like the Fortron Source "Green" models.)
