Noisy OCZ ModXSTream 700 Watt PSU

Post by zash13 » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:43 pm

I bought this PSU this summer thinking it would be quiet. Now that the air conditioners are not running anymore I hear this strange noise coming from the PSU. It's the loudest fan by far in my PC and seems to have bad ball bearings or something like that. I also have a MSI GTX 260 twin fan and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 which I can both barely hear at when idling the PC...

So my question is can I replace the 135mm fan in the PSU? Is this recommended and where do I get the part? I can't find a single 135mm fan on newegg.com... Or do I have to just buy a new PSU? If so, what do you recommend? I will probably upgrade to a single AMD 6970 video once available. So I need around 700 watt (I'd like to buy an oversized PSU to reduce heat output).

Thanks!
