Re: PSU help
1. probably, if your case has decent airflow to ensure the PSU intake does not get too much heat directed up at it. The max theoretical power draw of your system is under 300W. (TDP of CPU is 105W, GPU is 155W)gizmo wrote:will Corsair TX650 stay quiet with my rig? (quiet up to 350w in review) and what about Nexus RX-7000 is it good
2. as a newbie to spcr, it makes most sense to stick with products we've reviewed, products that lots of others have experience with. The Nexus RX-7000 is not one of them.
Re: PSU help
thanks for answers, about Nexus i saw that RX-8500 is reviewed here and its pretty quiet, and from nexus page information RX-7000 is more quiet.

It's not unreasonable to assume what you are assuming... but you pays your $$ and you takes your chances.gizmo wrote:thanks for answers, about Nexus i saw that RX-8500 is reviewed here and its pretty quiet, and from nexus page information RX-7000 is more quiet.
Re: PSU help

last question - what about changing psu fan? should it be pwm or normal fan and how hard is it to replace it

Re: PSU help
You really don't want to mess with this immediately. Not when there are so many quiet PSUs to choose from. Just pick a really quiet one from the recommended list.gizmo wrote:last question - what about changing psu fan? should it be pwm or normal fan and how hard is it to replace it
btw, I had a look at the chart at Nexus that compares various RX series PSU noise. Be forewarned -- it is misleading because the bottom scale is not in WATTS but in % of rated load. So the lower power models look like they are quieter to a higher load -- but this is NOT the case. They are quieter to a higher % of rated load. They should have used WATTS; it would be far more useful. I think most of the PSUs would have near-identical curves.
To be specific --
The 700W RX7000 is ~18 dBA at 50% of rated load (or 350W). Looking at the comparison chart, the 850W RX8500 looks noisier (~22 dBA) at the same power load -- but it's NOT the same load, it is 50% of the rated load, or 425W. To see how load it is at 350W, calculate the % of rated load -- about 41%. Look that up on the graph, and you find the SPL for the RX8500 is ~19 dBA. You might or might not hear this difference.
Note, too, that these SPL/power curves are done at room temperature, which does not account for the rise in temperature inside the case in a normal PC. That usually has an effect on PSU fan behavior; most PSUs will ramp up their fan when subject to higher environmental temp.
Re: PSU help
ok i hope this will help me with decision, thanks again
Re: PSU help
Note the Seasonic-made TX650 in the review is no longer being produced by Corsair; they changed suppliers on that model from Seasonic to CWT, and while Seasonic-produced units might still be available for sale, there is no guarantee.gizmo wrote:will Corsair TX650 stay quiet with my rig? Avoid: Corsair changed this PSU without changing also its name.
As it's now made by CWT there's almost a guarantee it will be loud. Avoid it.
Re: PSU help
sry to bother again, wanted to ask about Nexus NX-5000 will it be fine for my rig?
Re: PSU help
No problem, it's better to ask twice than be sorry after you buy it.
Like MikeC said, you won't ever use more than 300W, so a 530W psu is just fine. And it got a very good review on SPCR so I'd say that's a good buy (Editor's choice).
