Modular and Quiet
I am building an ITX pc and i am after a very quiet but also modular PSU. The market place is vast and i dont have a clue what to go for!! Any help would be superb. Not sure on budget just that i dont want to take out a loan to get one! lol
Re: Modular and Quiet
What components are you using for the rest of the computer?

Yeah, at least the case, in order to know the relevant PSU clearance.
Re: Modular and Quiet
Maybe a Core 500
CPU is an AM A10, 7850 i think, will check, SSD, DVDrw, 16gb 1600 ram, no Dedicated GPU (Yet)

It depends mainly of your allotted budget and of whether you're going to get a powerful GPU, or not.
With anything with a power consumption up to the GTX 750Ti level, a Seasonic G-360 will suffice and it should be the most affordable option among high quality units. Among less expensive PSUs, the Cooler Master G450M might be a viable alternative: the Corsair CS-450M may be also, but it is usually priced too high.
With higher powered graphics, I'd say a BeQuiet! Straight Power E10 CM 500W, if you are in EU, while, whether you're located in North America, I'd say an EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W may be a fine choice. Among less expensive options, it mainly depends of your location (local pricing heavily matters).
Re: Modular and Quiet
Most importantly for me it must be quiet and modular. I guess a 500w would be ample as not using a Dedicated GPU.
I like the sfx ones but i see many complaints about noise from them!!

Re: Modular and Quiet
There aren't too many systems with a single GPU that will genuinely stress a good quality 500W unit, unless you're aiming for overclocking territory; I assume that you're not O/Cing, given the ITX form factor. If you want it to remain quiet(ish) in an ITX case, it'll need to be a pretty efficient & cool running GPU so as not to ramp up those case temps (and probably the noise along with it), so 500W will be plenty.
Re: Modular and Quiet
Not overclocking and not using a dedicated gpu. Just want the quietest PSU arouond 500w and is modular. The recommended by SPCR looks well out of date unless i am looking in the wrong place?

Whether you guess you'd be able to do something more timely, you might try to replace MikeC at SPCR: he's looking for a substitute since lots of years.Koolpc wrote:Def out of date then! Taquest_for_silence wrote:Last update Sept 25, 2013.Koolpc wrote:The recommended by SPCR looks well out of date
