Best Performace 7200 SATA Drive

Post by MrNIGHTLIFE » Wed Nov 19, 2003 11:15 am

Hey Guys,

Which SATA 7200 rpm drive has the best performance? I'm not worried about noise. I really don't want to go the Raptor route. I will be using two drives to do a raid 0.

Thanks.

I wish I have a night life, but I digress. Welcome to SPCR forums!

This is probably not the place to ask this question :-)

If you check Tom's hardware, and if you trust them, the Hitachi 7K250 /HDS7225xx series has the best performance.

You may also want to check out http://www.storagereview.com, which incidentally also agrees with Tom's Hardware's assessment.

Yeah lenny is right. They have the top performance, and they are pretty quiet as well.

Thx for the help. I'm going with the 13G0252, which is 80gb, and 8mb cache.

Which one? The 7K250 (same one you decided on) are availble with 8MB cache. The ones reviewed in Tom's Hardware all have 8MB cache.

http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=8424 Confrimed here too that the new Hitachi's 7K250 are v. fast.

The added bonus it's not noisy according to the HD roundup. (quiet drives in there too)
