Seagate 7200.7 hari-kari

Post by Uberman1080 » Mon May 10, 2004 6:16 am

Ok, ive got a 120gb ATA 7200.7 8mb. Anyway, ones died on me allready and im thinking this "new" one might be headed that way too. Im using HDD Health by http://www.panterasoft.com which reads the SMART status. anyway i was wondering if anyone knew what the deal was with the Raw Read Error rate and the Hardware ECC recovered. As both have changed recently.
it'll be the last seagate i buy, even if they are quiet id rather have a hdd that im not constantly fretting about dying on me.

Aww crap - may I be the first person to strongly recommend that you backup your valuable data as soon as possible!!

No.. not really.. sorry about that :)
I spotted this phenomenon some time ago and to date I haven't seen anyone with any Seagate which doesn't report such errors. It's normal AFAIK.

PS But, naturally, regular backups are a good idea. Unless you're Linus Torvlads and then you just get stuff mirrored around the world.
