plex708a or nec2510?

Post by aznxdivin!ty » Fri Jun 18, 2004 9:30 pm

i was wonderin which dvd writer i should get, the plex 708a or the nec 2510? I can get the nec for bout 88 bucks while i can get the plex for 86 bucks. I was wonderin if i should just spend 2 bucks more on the nec since is a dl burner too. Unless the dl part for it is crap? Well, im mostly aimin for quite playback and burning, which dvd drive you think is quieter? Can u control cd playback speeds? Thanks for all the replies.

Plex: can control playback speed with Plextools
NEC: haven't tried, but I think (based on prev. exp.) that CD Bremse / CD Throttle should work.

Both are quieter than competition at lower speeds.

NEC is IMHO a better burner (more compatible with wide variety of media). Plex has Plextools Pro, which gives you really good audio ripping, if you need that.

I'm surprised the NEC and Plex are similarly priced over there....The difference is at least £17 in the UK.

With the 712 it's nearly £50! That's why I decided to add a Plexwriter Premium to the 2510.

These two burners are discussed here:

Plextor gets my vote, hands down. If you can afford it, and require the precision, the Plextor is the way to go.
