I bought 2 Seagate 7200.10 320GB drives around christmas last year (at the same time from the same company). I've always considered these drives to be noisy, however just recently I discovered that one of the drives produces ALOT more vibrations than the other one does @idle. Holding both drives in your hands, anyone would be able to feel the big difference like night and day.
Also when I turn my computer off, the quiet drives stops spinning almost immediately but you can hear the vibrating drive slowly spinning down for about 5s.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the drive but I'm speculating whether Seagate has made this change between different batches of the 7200.10 series or not. Has anyone encountered this issue ?

I have the same issue with the 7200.9 series. Two 120GB SATA drives purchased in July 2003, one is virbratory and the other isn't. Both have been going strong, though. I placed the noisiest one on a foam pad and zip-tied it to the pad, markedly reduced vibration. Haven't had a problem with data or drive integrity, even with the drive mounted a funny angles for months on end.
I have 2 Seagate 7200.10 - 320 GB purchased in September 2006. They work very well with little noise.
Have you considered the one drive may be going bad? I haven't used it, but you might check out Spinrite 6 by Steve Gibson - at www.grc.com (Gibson Research Corp). Among other things, Spinrite can detect hard drives going bad. The downside is that it costs about the same as a new 320 GB hard drive!
There may be other similar utilities that could diagnose a problem.
Good luck!

I have two of these drives and two similar Hitachi Deskstar T7K320 320GB drives in the same computer. The only thing I've noticed thats unusual is that one of the Seagates is *way* faster than the other three drives.
The two Seagates were bought months apart from the same retailer.
The two Hitachis were bought at the same time from the same retailer.
The ordinary Seagate is Revision 3.AAE and the fast one is Revision 3.AAC.
