Silencing SP1612N

Post by duality » Sat Sep 29, 2007 12:41 pm

Hey guys,

I have an older rig with micro ATX case. It was making a racket when I built it from leftover parts--and I pinpointed the source of noise (well, worst offender anyway) to my old Samsung hard drive. I tried to silence it with a few different methods (putting it on foam, suspending it...) to no avail. Maybe it's because I'm sitting pretty close to the computer, but as I have no space to move the computer elsewhere, I believe some modifications are necessary to reduce noise.

So, my question is--how can I reduce the noise from this hard drive (with spending as little money as possible, preferably zero budget)?
