In issue 21/07 the german printed magazin C't tested some suspensions:
idle noise of the WD5000AAJS dropped from 0.3 sone to 0.2 sone.
Access noise with bolts: 1.6 sone, I list the access noise after the product name. With same performance, cheapest comes first:

I would point out in the interest of pure DIY that if you have room in the case to really suspend, bungee cord should beat all these in price *and* performance. 50' of 1/8" polypropylene covered elastic cord from McMaster-Carr will run you $4.50. In Euros that's spare change...
And the rubber thingamabobs that a couple of these products use? Look up "Natural Rubber and Neoprene Sandwich Mounts" in McMaster-Carr.

The first of those gadgets are for mounting in a 5.25" optical slot. The problem with mounting in a optical slot is cooling the drive.
Obvious comment: the less power consumed by the drive, the easier it is to cool. Ahem! The new Samsung HD250HJ (now available for purchase) is a really fast (158MB/sec media-to-cache) drive whose power consumption is typically 3.2W idle, 3.0W r/w, 4.8W seek. Its little bro, the HD162HJ, has identical speed, power, and noise specs (but is not yet available).
It is a wise person who selects low-power HDDs for mounting in optical slots.

I second colin2's comments.
Personally, I have little use for commercial HDD suspension devices. No way I would suspend a HDD in an optical bay; there's almost zero airflow around them, and even low power HDDs get hot.
The HDD Elastic Suspension... Show your pics!thread showcases the myriad of ways you can do this, usually for pennies. Well, usually pennies for me. I buy clothing elastic in bulk -- usually 10m at a time, typically for 40~60 cents a meter. It rarely takes more than half a meter to suspend one drive.
