2.5" Head Parking Click.

Post by LBadvance » Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:38 am

I have the 2.5" Seagate Momentus 5300.3 SATA drive. Its inaudiable in idle mode. Seek is relatively soft. But the head parking click is very distinct.

I know this feature is used in 2.5" to save power and make the drive more resilent to shocks and bumps. This is used in my HTPC so the head parking feature is not needed. Am I able to turn it off, somehow?

Thanks.

Searching reveals HDPARM is needed. I'll post back results.
