Apparently there is a rumour going around that the new WD6400AAKS are heavier in weight than the original WD6400AAKS.. and that it may not be the original one at all.
Anyone have this drive recently can confirm whether this is true or not?
Or can anyone with this drive post HDtach benchmarks? (If you have this drive, new or old. If we see large variance in numbers, we know something is up.)
WD6400AAKS - 3 platters? Anyone bought this recently?

I have 2 that i got during the summer.
Both show near identical performance. Here is one of them.
I cant see any reason at all why WD would go to older platters now, they have been replacing older platter drives with 320GB ones for a while now (EG: 1TBGP used to have 4 250GB platters, new version has 3 platters, is phasing out the old model). Since the 640 blue is a very popular drive with enthusiasts who care about drive speed and people who only care about price it seems illogical to downgrade it.
