AMD64 E0 = 67W !

Post by GeekyGeek » Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:41 am

Did u hear the good news ? The E0 stepping is on the way (3800+ 4000+)
and it supposed to use only 67W max ! (strained silicon) like old XP 1800,in cool'and'quiet about 21W I strongly recommend to wait for these new CPUs if u consider upgrade. (and it will have SSE3)

AMD just rocks.

Where did you hear/read that? 67 W is also what the current D0 stepping draws in 3000+, 3200+ and 3500+ for socket 939 that have been avilable for a couple of months, so I don't think that staying at 67 W when going from 2200 MHz(3500+) to 2400 MHz(3800+/4000+) is that fantastic. But yeah, it's still good.

SSE3 is not that big deal...

My FX-55 with strained silicon doesn't have that low of wattage? E0 3800 and 4000 works with 90nm too or something?

None of those three are made with 90 nm process today according to AMD. E0 will change that I guess.
TDP for FX-55 is 104 W.
